What's Neuropa
Neuropa is a conceptual and artistic vision inspired by the works of Stanisław Szukalski — a vision of a cultural and historical union rooted in the shared origins of kindred Slavic nations. It reaches back to a time before modern divisions, beyond political structures, into a deeper layer of identity shaped by myth, memory, and ancestral heritage.
At its core, Neuropa represents the idea of a common “Slavic trunk” — a symbolic origin from which cultures such as Poland, Lithuania, and the lands of Old Rus’ emerged. It is not a political project, but a spiritual and cultural one: an imagined realm built on unity, strength, and continuity of tradition. In this vision, there is no place for forces that dominate or exploit — only for those connected through shared roots and values.
The album Neuropa by Perunwit translates this idea into sound. It is not a literal retelling of Szukalski’s works, but a musical interpretation — a journey through symbols, sculptures, and narratives that reflect his unique worldview. Each composition draws from selected pieces and ideas, transforming them into immersive sonic landscapes that explore themes of struggle, sacrifice, identity, and transcendence.
As an artistic statement, Neuropa serves as both tribute and continuation — a seal placed upon Szukalski’s legacy, reimagined through music. It invites the listener into a world where art, history, and mythology merge, opening space for reflection, interpretation, and rediscovery.

At the end, I would like to add a few words of my own. The project Neuropa was financed exclusively from the private funds of the album’s creators. I would like Stanisław “Stas” Szukalski to remain in your memory as an artist–genius, a virtuoso of both soul and body. Our aim is to bring his art closer to you.
Our task ends here — the evaluation of the album is now yours. This record is a musical image inspired by selected works of Stach from Warta.
From my dream, conceived in a deeply transcendental sense, to the album you now hold in your hands, we have travelled a long road thanks to the involvement of many people: music producers, graphic designers, musicians, session guests, and promoters, as well as our inner Strength, which continuously pushed us to create this album with respect for the Master’s legacy.
I believe that our goal has been achieved — in memory of our beloved Stas from Warta.
Perunwit.

Stanisław Szukalski is, to me, an exceptionally unconventional figure, one who provokes extreme reactions — from fascination to a sense of excess bordering on aversion. In 1999 a.y.p.s., my first encounter with The Monument of the Liberator, The Struggle, The Aviator’s Oath on the Świętoporzeł, and The Heir, seen in zines I received from Aro, made a truly electrifying impression on me. From that moment on, Stach has consistently inspired and guided me — a self-born genius, always pursuing his own aims and pressing forward against all odds, while at the same time reaching deeply back toward the most ancient roots.
Struggling with the drama of unfulfilment resulting from a difficult temperament, an uncompromising attitude toward the act of creation, and toward art itself, Stach repeatedly encountered rejection, misunderstanding, often mockery, and ultimately oblivion. Engaging with Stach’s legacy, with his person and his genius, I quickly understood that anyone who claims to comprehend the entirety of Szukalism is either mistaken or lying. Stach seduces and misleads, always leaving space to discover something new and unexpected, staying dozens of steps ahead of the intellectual and cognitive capacities of his public.
Stach implanted in me the God-eagled Call (“Bogorli Zew”). He showed me what Struggle is, and Combat as the force that defines human existence in its fight for justification. I attempt to repay this incurred debt in my everyday life, and to pay him due homage — at least in part — by attempting at rescuing his legacy from oblivion. In 2024, I co-created the exhibition “Szukalski the Slavic One. (Re)construction of a Legacy” at the Museum of the Origins of the Polish State in Gniezno, based on my original concept from 2012. The exhibition coincided with work on the present album and was illustrated with two Acts from it.
I have not yet said my final word.
